Although neither admit to any wrongdoing until now, there is no answer to why a player, one who should be in the twilight of his career, can suddenly achieve more around the age of 40 than they did ten years earlier.
Roger Clemens had been given a pass in the media, and although there had been whispers about him and using, it was nothing in comparison to what the media had to say about Barry Bonds. The reason is open to debate. I would say it is one part race, one part Bonds being the surliest dude in town towards the media, and one part Barry Bonds daring to interrupt the sleep of home run legends, 755, and all that.
