Chicago Cubs Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview

The Cubs are expected to win the World Series every year. So I exaggerated it but Cubs fans have their hopes and dreams set on this team every year and the team always stinks it up. They are consistenly overvalued by 13 points over the past 7 seasons. Betting against them is MONEY.

Since betting odds in baseball have a lot to do with pitching, the pitchers in Chicago command great odds. The problem with that philosophy is that the team still blows. Four years ago, they were -48 units about 30 points overvalued. In this day and age, that is ridiculous.

I recommend all of you to look for spots to bet against these Cubs. They are just too overvalued by Vegas. They are overvalued the most at home. They are a total -80 units over the past 4 seasons at home as a favorite. I like to look for motivated, streaking road underdogs playing these Cubs.

6 of the past 7 seasons saw gamblers win large going against the Cubs as a home favorite. We expect the 2006 season to be no different. Bettors will always love to bet on the Cubs especially at home. We take the contrarian position because that is where the value lies.

San Francisco Giants Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The Giants are probably going to be on my list of teams to look to bet on. They had a disappointing 75-87 season last year but that was because Bonds did not play the entire season. These Giants have won their backers money in every season for the pr...

Texas Rangers Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
After finishing the 2004 season 16 games above 500, the Rangers sputtered through the 2005 season and finished 4 games below 500. They went from being a handicappers dream at +24 units in 2004 to a team that was priced about right. The Angels look lik...

Carlos Zambrano
One of the best pitchers in the league this season has been Carlos Zambrano of the Chicago Cubs. Even without great run support, Zambrano has been able to get the job done time and time again. This is saying a lot for a guy that is pitching for a tea...

LA Angels: 2006 Baseball Betting Season Preview

Florida Marlins Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview

Toronto BlueJays Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The Toronto Bluejays are either going to be a very exciting team in 2006 or a very mediocre underachieving team. They made a lot of offseason moves that should catapult them to the top of the American League. It is just unfortunate that the Yankees a...

Washington Nationals Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The record books are going to show the Nationals as a very average 81-81 team with poor hitting in 2005. Their ballpark is very pitcher friendly so their pitchers seemed sensational and hitters seemed horrendous. A pitching friendly park allows them ...

Atlanta Braves Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview

Tampa Bay Devilrays Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
When people think about slum teams in baseball, they think of the Devil Rays. They average about 65 wins a season over the past 7 seasons. This is 97 losses. So you can imagine always betting against them, right?I would beg to differ. The past two se...
