Can Mickelson Cage Tiger?

About 5 months ago Phil Mickelson was on a roll. He was as hot as a firecracker. He won the Masters and it looked like he had finally come into his own and was ready to dethrone Tiger Woods as the #1 golfer in the world.

But something happened on the way to his coronation as the best golfer on the planet. Phil's game fell apart and he had a complete meltdown at the US Open cancelling his chances of overtaking Tiger.

The question now is, Can Phil make a comeback and again become a legitimate challenger to Tiger's domination of the sport?

This is really an open question at this point. The golfing jury is out right now. Phil certainly has the skill and talent to mount a challenge to Tiger but did the US Open debacle just take too much out of him? Is his confidence level where it should be for a Tiger conquest or will Phil just succumb and sink back into the pack of golfers who are real good but not great.

In order for Phil to get back to his Tiger quest he must first completely erase his US Open failure from his memory bank. Second, he must not concentrate on beating Tiger but focus on being the best Phil Mickelson he can be and take his game to a new level.

Third, Phil needs to regain his on-course confidence and consistency that he has lost in his recent slump. And finally, he needs to slow down and not try to get back too quickly. He must be methodical and systematic in regaining his excellent play.

Phil must recognize that the only way to capture and cage a Tiger is to approach it slowly and then pounce. Right now Phil is Tiger prey instead of a Tiger predator.
