Understanding the trades in the majors can be one of the most important parts of understanding the game. Unfortunately, its not as simple as one might would hope.

First, its important to understanding the very beginning of how transactions in MLB operate. This occurs when amateurs sign their first contract and a lot regarding how things progress depends on certain factors regarding that first contract signing. For example, if an amateur is at least 19 years old then he is given three years in the minors and after that he has to moved on up to the roster. If; however, the player is under the age of 19 then he is given an extra inning in the minor leagues before he must be moved up to the 40-man roster.

It should be noted that not all minor league players make it to the 40-man roster. In fact its not uncommon at all for a minor league player to never make it to the 40-man roster at all. This is primarily due to the fact that there are not many vacancies on the 40-man roster. The players who do not make their way to the 40-man roster can become eligible for what is known as the Rule 5 Draft. This gives other organizations the opportunity to draft those players. If they do draft them; however, the organization must keep them in the majors throughout the entire season. On average, a little less than two dozen players make it in due to the Rule 5 Draft. Another alternative would be for those players who didnt make it to the 40-man roster to become a free agent. In order for this to happen; however, the players must have at least six years of professional experience and their contracts must have expired.

The players who do eventually make the 40-man roster have three options. The player can be sent to the minors without penalty during any given year. It is important to note that a player doesnt necessarily use up an option every time he gets sent back to the minors. Instead, an option covers the entire season. So, theoretically, a player could be bounded back to the minors multiple times during an entire season and all of those returns would be covered under only one option.

If, in the event an organization wants to send a player back to minors but that particular player does not have any options left then they would need to use waivers and that involves the process of outrighting. In this process, the player would be taken off the 40-man roster and put on waivers. This automatically gives all of the other teams a total of three days in which they can lay claim to the player. The teams with the worst records get priority over all of the other teams. If there should not be any team claim him then the player will be sent back to the minors. Of course, if the player in question has at least five years of experience in MLB then he can go free agency and thats a whole different ball game, so to speak.

In the event that the original team wanted to pull him back in again, they would first have to purchase his contract.

Secondly, perhaps you are not really sticking to your diet as closely as you think. You could be consuming extra calories here and there without even knowing it. Do you count all of your drinks? You would be adding a lot of calories if you ordered a large cappuccino with chocolate full milk and sugar. Or maybe your spouse likes a beer or wine in the evening, and does not like to drink alone. Then, maybe you taste a dish often while you’re cooking it, even if you’re not planning to eat it yourself. And what happens to all the food that your kids leave on their plates? If you can become more conscious of all the little things that you eat or drink, you may be able to cut out the hidden calories that are keeping you from success in your diet.

Thirdly, if you look at the larger picture you may see that you have come to a plateau. This often happens when drastic changes have been made in the diet. Often, the initial weight loss has been good, but then the body reacts as it is programmed to do in case of famine. It conserves as much energy and fat as it can, and weight loss slows down or even stops. It is important to stay positive at this point. If you become discouraged and stop dieting, you may never make any progress.

Everybody wants to see super-quick results, but the ideal diet plan is to lose just one or two pounds a week. This means finding a diet plan that you can stay with for many months or even years if you have a lot to lose. Don’t let this discourage you. Think of it as a new healthy eating plan instead of a diet. You are not losing anything, you are gaining a new kind of life. Concentrate on smaller goals - the next 5 pounds that you want to lose, instead of the whole 50 - weigh yourself only once per week, and keep records of other changes too. Are you more comfortable in your clothes than you were a few weeks ago? Have you stopped feeling that your skin was about to burst? Can you do a little more exercise without becoming breathless? Aren’t those things more important than a number on the scale?

Our aim should always be to lose weight steadily and healthily, and above all to become and stay fit and healthy. Fad diets will not do that. The ideal diet plan is flexible enough to become your healthy eating plan for life, embracing all the food groups and the natural vitamins that your body needs. So choose your weight control diet carefully, and make sure it is adaptable enough to last you all your life.

The vaccine can cut down this time to a couple of days. If you are afraid of needles then you can get the nasal spray form of the flu vaccine. A flu vaccine can lower the chances of getting flu by as much as 92%.

Do not use a flu vaccine on yourself if you have had a bad reaction to the same shot or spray earlier, if you have an allergy to eggs, or if you have had Guillain-Barre syndrome in the 6 weeks since your last flu shot.

The department of homeland security released its list of likely terrorist targets in the US and, in so doing, revealed how it devastatingly misallocated funds to protect the nation from terrorists, setting aside a disproportionate amount to the safely sequestered hinterlands while shorting prime targets like New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington.

In fact, the selected terrorists targets make the DHS sounds like boobies tossing darts at a map of the country. For instance, on the vaunted register, called The National Asset Database, we find such high-value targets as the Sweetwater Flea Market and the Amish Country Popcorn factory.

The database is apparently so inversely proportional to true consequence that Indiana has the most potential targets for terrorism of any state, with 8,591, while New York only has 5,687 and California has just 3,212.

And this is the very database that Homeland Security used to guide its allocation of antiterrorism funds. All of which goes a long way toward explaining why the new program reduced funding for New York City and Washington by 40%, but increased it for high-risk cities like Louisville, KY and Omaha, NB.

We dont find it embarrassing, Jarrod Agen, the departments deputy press secretary, said. The list is a valuable tool.

Other entries in the database that provoked severely fretted brows are the likes of a petting zoo in Alabama, a Mule Day Parade in Tennessee, Nixs Check Cashing, an ice cream parlor, a tackle shop, a donut shop, and a bean festival.

In the last few years, business ethics and company core values are among the most critical discussions I facilitate during strategic planning and business coaching endeavors. This is partly due to he tremendous negative reaction to corporate ethics scandals. My encouragement to clients is to go public with their core values and ethical standards so it becomes known what the company stands for and how the leaders will conduct business.

Many businesses also will use the core values and ethical standards for guidance in making critical decisions, to create an ethical corporate culture, to attract high quality employees and to differentiate themselves from competitors. I applaud those businesses that establish and declare their core values and ethical standards in some written form and/or posting them on their web site and other company materials.

So, you may ask how would a business go about establishing and emphasizing a set of core values and ethical standards? Based upon my personal and professional experiences and research, I would recommend making the following nine commitments:

Commitment #1: Verify a strong commitment from company management to establish core values for the business.

Commitment #2: Develop a forum to gather information from employees and company stakeholders.

Commitment #3: Use an experienced professional outside facilitator to conduct the developed forum and facilitate the discussion to gather input.

Commitment #4: Obtain and verify management and employee commitment to the selected company core values and their consideration in everyday decision making.

Commitment #5: Establish a set of ethical standards as an integral part of the company core values and make them public.

Commitment #6: Keep the ethical standards and company core values current. Amend them as warranted to reflect reality.

Commitment #7: Monitor the companys commitment and performance regarding its ethical standards and core values. Survey employees and stakeholders to find out how they feel about the company living up to its own standards and values.

Commitment #8: Develop a process and/or procedure to deal with violations of ethical standards and company core values.

Commitment #9: Recognize and reward ethical behavior.

Most intangible asset measurements have been top-down: Investors theorize a contributing factor and then try to figure out how to measure it. Studies have been performed using different approaches to determine such value. What has been developed is now known as EVA, or economic value added.

Some perceived value drivers translate into market value; others do not.

It suggests that in the connected economy, connections matter. Alliances are incredibly, even decisively, important.

HERES WHAT DRIVES VALUE (IN RANK ORDER):

Studies have shown a set of value drivers for Internet companies, because in no other industry are accounting values less relevant in explaining market capitalization. These drivers were culled from a stand-alone studies Forbes did on e-commerce firms. Heres their list, in order of importance:

(1) alliances, (2) innovation, (3) eyeballs (usage traffic), (4) brand investment, (5) stickiness (minutes spent on Web pages).

Three categories had substantial effects on e-commerce market values. The most important was the number of alliances and alliance partners. Investments in innovation (captured by research and development and capital expenditures) ranked close behind. Perhaps the most widely discussed driver of e-commerce valuethe number of eyeballs viewing a Web sitewas measured by using data on a sites visitors, reach, or market share, and the number of hyperlinks to other sites.

Forbes found that a high visitor count also was strongly associated with market values, supporting the push by e-commerce companies to drive traffic through their sites at almost any cost. Taken together, these three category relations indicate that the strength of an e-commerce companys networkboth in connections to its customers and alliances within its economic web of suppliers and other partnershas a profound effect on a firms value.

By contrast, investment in building brand awareness has no statistical association with market values. So much for those millions spent on Super Bowl ads. Big marketing campaigns may boost the egos of company executives, but the research suggests they do little to raise a firms value. Equally surprising, stickinessvaunted as the next competitive step after eyeballsproved only a minor contributor to value. This analysis was completed in the year 2000.

So what does this all mean to us as individuals? For individuals involved in the networked economy, it provides a set of levers that, if effectively applied, can prepare you for individual performance and increase in market value.Consider what we do with the medium of social networking and the related emergence of adoption. What are the attributes of participation within adult and business communities leveraging social networks as the medium? It appears obvious that the attributes closely match the drivers of value defined in the older study by Forbes. These include:

1. alliances with others for both personal and professional gains
2. innovation, our collective communities repeatedly fine news ways to leverage the medium
3. eyeballs, Have you noticed the craze for expanding ones quantity and quality of connections and viewers to your blog post?
4. brand investment, whether our businesses or us as individuals we investing time to build our brand for future opportunities
5. stickiness- time spent on our profiles and in our communities reviewing our content

As time goes by, a model will evolve to identify new value-creation drivers, while maintaining enough flexibility to adapt to the constantly changing nature of the companies and individuals that are producing value in the connected economy, The Relationship Economy. Our individual strategies should be aimed at thinking through what value we can create and exchange with other individuals and communities as a whole.

The definition of ones value is the critical answer which facilitates the five drivers of value previously mentioned. When you define your value offering and how it can be leveraged through the medium of social networks you have defined a new means for wealth creation.

Today developers and networking platform operators are capturing the economic values. Tomorrow, when individuals define their value and unite with a purpose, the economic gains will be afforded to the users who leverage the five drivers of value creation. The shift will create The Relationship Economy and it will disrupt markets globally.

Up until recently, the exact causes of migraines have remained unknown. You know that estrogen, a female physiological hormone, also drops when during pregnancy. That explains why some pregnant women suffer from severe and regular headaches during pregnancy. Women undergoing menopause also experience migraine because of the low levels of estrogen in the bloodstream.

Several foods There are several types of foods that have been identified as triggers for migraine attacks. Though some experts cite skipping meals and starvation to occasional onsets of the severe headaches, consumption of several types of foods have been observed to almost always lead to migraine episodes. Such foods include aged cheese, marinated foods, chocolates and citrus fruits. Coffee is also known to cause headaches as well as foods that contain monosodium glutamate, which is a common ingredient of most Chinese and Asian dishes. Aspartame, an artificial food sweetener present in diet beverages, can also lead to occasional migraine attacks.

Stress As usual, stress is also a known factor that could possibly lead to severe headaches. A long and hard week of strenuous mental and physical activity almost always leads to migraine over the weekend. Stress can be incurred at the workplace or at home. Relaxation is found to be an effective offset to stress.

Sensory stimuli Very bright lights coming from powerful bulbs and sun glares are reported to cause migraine attacks. Likewise, strong odor from perfumes, smoke and citrus fruits are also known to become potent triggers.

Sleeping habit changes Abrupt and drastic changes in sleeping pattern has been observed to cause severe migraine headaches among patients. Sudden changes in sleeping hours also cause some people to lack sleep, which in turn can also aggravate and lead to what else, but migraine.

Overall, what causes migraines differs among patients. The factors that lead to severe headaches almost always vary. Some people experience migraine due to food consumption, some due to lack of sleep, and some due to hormonal imbalances. Whatever, it would be better if you would respond to the condition positively.
